Somatic Bodywork · Belfast, Northern Ireland

Release what your body
has been holding

Trauma-sensitive somatic therapy and nervous system regulation — for when talking alone hasn't shifted what you carry. In-person in Belfast.

This work is for you if…

Some things don't shift
with talking alone

Stress, anxiety, and trauma are not only psychological.
They live in the nervous system and the body.

Many people arrive at this work after years of trying to think their way out of how they feel. The insight is there — but the body hasn't caught up.

You might recognise some of this:

  • Stuck in anxiety or a low hum of chronic stress
  • Disconnected from your body, or numb to it
  • Overwhelmed, burnt out, running on empty
  • Holding tension that talking therapy hasn't reached

A body-led approach

Working with the body,
not just the mind

Somatic bodywork is a body-led, trauma-aware therapy that supports the release of stored stress, emotional tension, and trauma held in the body. Rather than only talking about how you feel, we work with what your nervous system is actually carrying.

Each session is tailored to your body and your pace, drawing on a blend of approaches:

What clients often experience

What becomes possible

Calmer nervous system

Reduced anxiety and that constant sense of overwhelm, as your system learns it is safe to settle.

Tension that finally lets go

Release of chronic muscular holding that hasn't shifted through talking or stretching alone.

Steadier emotions

Improved emotional regulation — feeling things without being swept away by them.

Back in your body

A greater sense of connection to yourself, and more energy and clarity in daily life.

Deeper rest

Better sleep and recovery, as the body moves out of a state of constant alertness.

A felt sense of safety

Perhaps the most important of all — a deeper sense of safety within yourself.

How the work stays safe

Safety is the foundation

This is trauma-informed bodywork, designed to support regulation — never to push you into overwhelm. Every session is guided by three principles.

Titration

We work slowly, in small steps, so your system is never asked to process more than it can hold. Nothing is rushed.

Pendulation

We help your system move gently between activation and calm — building its capacity to return to safety on its own.

Consent & communication

You remain in control at every moment. Nothing happens without your agreement, and you can pause or stop at any time.

In their words

What clients experience

I have a trauma background so know how important it is when choosing a practitioner. Paul made me feel so safe throughout the whole session and constantly communicated with me. The session never went beyond my personal limit, keeping within my window of tolerance. Paul's work is highly intuitive and nurturing. I am looking forward to my next session. You are so special Paul and I wish more people got to experience your gifts.

Louise

Somatic bodywork

This is probably the best I've felt in a year, like within me. My mind is focused and I've been seeing things really clearly. I feel energised, I've been moving my body and stretching every day, walking, listening to inner guidance and making better decisions for myself. Thank you Paul, I know your work has helped me so much.

Somatic bodywork

Paul, I'm on top of the world. I woke up feeling very strange, only because it's a very surreal feeling for me. I felt happy, light. I have just felt so good all weekend — something definitely shifting within me. I've laughed, I've got out and about with the kids.

Why work with Paul

Clinical insight,
held with care

I'm a Belfast-based pharmacist and trauma-sensitive somatic practitioner with over a decade of experience in patient care. That background gives me a grounded understanding of the body and nervous system — and how stress and trauma live inside it.

My work brings together clinical knowledge, somatic therapy, and a deep respect for safety. The result is an approach to body-based healing that is informed, careful, and led entirely by your pace.

Common questions

Things you might
want to know

  • Not at all. Many people come simply because they feel stressed, anxious, burnt out, or disconnected from their body. Somatic work supports the nervous system whether or not you identify what you're carrying as "trauma".
  • Every session is tailored to you, but it may include somatic therapy, hands-on bodywork, fascia release, breathwork, and gentle movement. We always work at your pace, and you stay in control of what happens throughout.
  • Safety is the foundation of this work. We use titration (working slowly), pendulation (moving gently between activation and calm), and ongoing consent so you're never pushed past what your system can hold. You can pause or stop at any time.
  • A massage works with muscle; talk therapy works with the mind. Somatic bodywork works with the nervous system — the place where stress and tension are actually held. It's a body-based alternative, or companion, to talking therapy.
  • As your system begins to feel safer, the body may release through emotion, physical sensation, shaking or tremoring, or deep relaxation. This is a natural part of trauma release, and it's guided carefully and at your pace.
  • Sessions are in-person in Belfast, Northern Ireland, and last up to 90 minutes. Each one is held confidentially and professionally, in a space designed to feel calm and safe.
